Is it possible to walk from the San Diego airport to Balboa Park?

I am sorry if it is a dumb question, I am not familiar with San Diego whatsoever.  I might be testing there in mid-December and I am trying to get away without renting a car. I see that it is only 2.5 miles, but I am not sure if it would be feasible to walk from the airport to Balboa Park. 

How much is the bus fare there?

No, not possible. I'd look into a bus or a cab ride ($10?).

San Diego Metropolitan Transit for bus fares and routes.

Technically you CAN walk it but there is a HUGE hill that you have to go up.

You could but it would take a while since you would have to take side streets.  DH and I live in between the airport and the park and it takes us a bit to walk to the park. You would really need to take a cab or rent a car.

You cold take the airport flyer (bus) from the airport to downtown and then hop on the number 7 buss to balboa park if you didn't want to rent a car.   You can go to the SD Transit website and put in your destination and it will tell you the public transportation route as well as the fares.
