Sorta Newb - 1st Post - D&B Handbag

So what is your feeling on Dooney & Bourke bags? Is the signature look out of date, or a classic look?

My budget is $300 or less, so this bag fits right in there.

My Coach bag has seen better days, and it's time to replace it. What do you think about this D&B? So last year (or more!)... or ok?

blech.  d&b is for old ladies, IMO.  right up there with vera bradley.

accessorize with support hose and bifocals.

what i'd like to be doing right now:

Not my style.  You can get much cuter bags at that price point.

I'm not a regular here, but I'll put my 2 cents in. Although I like D&B and Coach, I typically don't go with their signature D&B or C logos. I tend to go for the more neutral leather. Something like this:

To me its more classic and goes with more things in my wardrobe without screaming BRANDING!

i think with any brand [even chanel or vuitton] you can find an out-of-date look. a lot of it comes down to personal preference but if i were you i would try to stick with a solid color and not a logo-covered bag.

again, it's totally up to you and your style but i think that bags with a lot 'going on' like logos, prints, or several colors won't last as long as something plain in a neutral color. i only buy bags in solid colors and classic styles and i never feel the need to get rid of them.

i love the longchamp le pliage nylon tote because it's classic, less than $150, easy to clean, and goes with everything.

here are a few other suggestions:

marc by marc tote [not as plain but big] $198

marc by marc turnlock [on sale from $448] $313

brahmin $225

That bag does absolutely nothing for me.

I personally am not a d&b fan. I've never really understood the appeal.

Not crazy about this D&B at all.  It looks very mature looking.  The only D&B I liked was that big red patent leather bag designed by Hayden Panettiere a year or 2 ago.

I like some D&B, like solid leather ones. That one just does nothing for me. But not all D&B are old lady looking.

NMS.I really don't like D&B

I rather invest that 300 on a solid color bag, like PP MBMJ has really nice bags.

Thanks for the responses. I think I'll keep looking but thought I'd let some know that this bag also comes in a solid..

That Marc By Marc Faridah (posted by tct) is a classic, you are much better off with that one!  I would snatch it up if I were looking for a bag that color!  I have his Classic Q Groovee satchel and the leather is to die for.
