Newbie Intro

So I just decided that I'd try and go with a support group of sorts! My name is Melissa, I'm 25 and I'm getting married in June. I had a baby in May 2008 and during my pregnancy I gained 90 lbs. Yes it was a ton, and yes I blew up to look like a beached whale. Anywho... in the months after I gave birth up until about 2 months ago, I was kicking my butt and got with in 20-30 lbs of my goal. Which is a great thing, I know this... but then something happened. The last 2 months I have had NO motivation. I've gotten so lazy, it's ridiculous. I really want to lose the rest of this weight before our wedding, and I'm only 5'2" so 20-30 lbs is a lot on me! I also just quit smoking, well again since I quit when I was prego, and now all I crave is sweets. It's driving me crazy. I don't normally have much of a sweet tooth, but since I quit that's all I want. It's like when I would normally go out and smoke, I want something sweet. If anyone has any ideas on how to help this, PLEASE let me know!!! I told FI the other night that if this keeps up I was going to start smoking again :) LOL

I guess that's all I've got to say... anyone who has any ideas on how to get yourself motivated I would love to hear them!!! I'm up at the butt crack of dawn, since I have an hour or so drive to work, and so I get up way early and then by the time I get home at night and make dinner, chase a 17 month old around, and then get him into bed... I'm exhausted. It's hard to get the motivation to then work out when I've been moving all day!!!

I really like those 100 calorie snacks. It's just enough to satisfy my sweet tooth and at 100cal a pop they're not that bad. They taste really good too! My favorite are the little oreo chips.

Welcome. The only way I am able to conrtrol my sweet tooth is to not buy the sweets in the first place. If they aren't in the house, I don't eat them. If you need sweets how about some strawberries or other fruit.

For motivation we just started a 4 week challenge to keep our selves in check through the holidays. The basics are to set weekly goals. My goal this week is to "workout" 5 days for 30 mins. By workout I mean ANYTHING! Play a game of tag with that baby. Maybe try a video at home. The 30 day shred is a Jilian Michales video and is only 20 mins. It is a solid kick your butt 20 mins, but it is more activity than I have done in the past and I usually have 20 mins of energy after my day.

Why don't you pick a goal for the week and let the board know. Having to be accountable will help! GL.

Ditto flamingemu... set a goal that is short and quickly attainable. Reaching smaller goals will provide you with the success you need to keep going and overall, it will help you reach your larger goals. And welcome to the board!
