How do you clean your Dyson?

I really do not want to spend the money to do a professional cleaning..and I LOVE my dyson...but It needs an overhaul. Anyone done this DIY?

1. Take out the beater bar and cut off any hairs, fibers etc.

2. Remove the filter, wash in soapy water, let air dry for 48 hours

3. Clean the canister (turn it upside down and fill with soapy water)

4. If you're really OCD, dissassemble the hose and run hot water through it. I was surprised how much yuck was in those creases

Money is neither my god nor my devil. It is a form of energy that tends to make us more of who we already are, whether it's greedy or loving

I am a little leary about using water anywhere near mine.
My dh takes ours out to the garage and cleans it with the air hose.

Ditto some of mrsbooboo

1. Take out the beater bar and cut off any hairs, fibers etc.

2. Remove the filter, wash in soapy water, let air dry for 48 hours. (I actually let it air dry for a lot longer. I bought a second filter so that I could leave the wet one out until the next cleaning. I made the mistake of not letting one dry long enough and it started to smell a little funny so now I'm super cautious about putting it back in too soon.)

3. Clean the canister. (I don't fill it with water, but I do rinse it out. I'm just careful not to get water into any of the "parts". But I do rinse it.)

4. Wipe all exterior surfaces with a damp rag.

My cleaning techniques are similar to those listed above:

1. Clean hair off beater bar.

2. Remove filter, rinse & air dry completely as instructed in manaul.

3. Clean canister with damp rag.

4. Wipe exterior surfaces if necessary.
