balcony flowers in SoCal

Any ideas for good plants on a balcony in Southern California? I would love to plant some Lilacs, blueberry bushes and rose bushes on my second floor balcony. Obviously, they will be potted. Does anyone have experience with these plants in SoCal, or being potted? Does anyone know of a good website/resource for finding info on great plants for the SoCal area - like what does well here?

Try finding a book called Western Garden Book put out by Sunset. It has tons of plants that grow well specifically in your area and the surrounding states. It was published in 1995.
