My professor scared everyone.

First, she is really cool and I have enjoyed her as much as I could on a Monday night basis.

She took for-freaking-ever to give us our mid-term results.  The next week she wasn't grading.  The next week we had group and weren't meeting.  Cool.  She was supposed to email them.  Nope.

We got them yesterday at the end of a 3 hour class. 

At the beginning she told us we were her most engaged class but we really sucked on the exam.  "No one failed."  <--- but if we don't get a B or higher we might as well since we can't stay in the program.

Everyone was like this for the rest of class Indifferent 

Torture.

I really wanted to sneak a peek at my partner's grade.

I forget it's offical long name.  It's research and analytics or something.  Basically research methods for one half and learning stats/SPSS the second half.

I did get a B.  Whew.  She is also being kind since everyone sucks apparently, and letting us do some extra work to tack on a few more points.  Kind.

Professor mind games drive me crazy.

I had one prof in 3rd and 4th year that just enjoys failing people on midterms. He then allows you to raise your grade by re-doing the midterm and handing it in. The first time, we all freaked out. By the third class we took from him, it wasn't even stressful. It was like "Oh, I got a 45%, but I'll bump it to a 70. No biggie."

As a university lecturer, I do NOT understand why profs do this stuff...it means you have to grade everyone twice! Who wants that extra work?? Not me...I'm thrilled when everyone does a good job the first time.

I don't intentionally give hard exams, but asking people to critically think on exams, even in the least (e.g., apply the correct definition to the situation) seems to make me Satan :) I've got some of the first of the No Child Left Behind kids, and if it's not recall, they simply haven't learned how to do it (until my class). Thankfully I have a good rapport with my students (even though they think I'm too hard) and support from the administration to "raise standards."
