In contrast to earlier times, our state now recognizes that an individual's capacity to establish a loving and long-term committed relationship with another person and responsibly to care for and raise children does not depend upon the individual's sexual orientation.

if i had my life to live over again, i would have studied abroad for a full year. even the semester changed my life (i worked abroad twice since graduating college) so i can imagine that a year would have been even more rewarding. i'd have wanted to go to another part of italy (i studied in florence) or another country in europe but that wasn't an option for my program if i'd wanted to graduate on time.

I studied abroad 2 fall semesters.  I spent the fall of my junior year in Nantes, France and then fall of my senior year in Aix-en-Provence, France.  After school I moved to Calais, France and worked as a middle school English teacher.  I was really glad how I spread out the study abroad and going two different places in France gave me a better perspective for my current job (hs French teacher).

I wanted to study abroad so badly, but it just wasn't in the cards for me.  My school didn't really offer any financial aid or scholarships for those programs so I would have had to pay for it on my own which I couldn't afford.  Fortunately my DH's grandparents surprised us with a backpacking trip as a graduation present so I was able to go after all (and I didn't have to worry about taking classes! lol).

I wanted to, but I had complicated visa issues.  I wasn't a US citizen.  But I grew up (and went to high school) abroad, so US was like study-abroad for me, in a way.

I voted Special Snowflake.

I was planning to study abroad for a summer, when I realized I could do an internship abroad instead.  It was better for my resume, and I was actually getting paid instead of having to pay all the expenses myself.

I obviously had a good time, since I'm still working overseas (for the same company, no less)!

I find it hard to put myself in just one box.

I spent the summer between HS and college living w/ a host family in Germany on an exchange program.  I wish I would've spent a semester in college abroad.

I studied abroad in Germany the summer between my junior and senior years in college, and one of my biggest regrets is that I didn't do a complete semester or a full year.

SS:  I studied abroad twice--once during undergrad (work/study in Israel) and one during law school (studied in London).  DH and I met while studying abroad in London through his University's program, so it worked out well for us!

One of my only regrets in life is not doing a semester/year abroad in college. I had planned to, but ended up having too much fun my first couple of years of college to want to leave my friends, then ended up meeting DH and just never got around to it. :(  I'm hoping that in the not-too-distant future DH will be at a point with his career (I can work from anywhere) where we can go and live in other countries for 2-3 months at a time and he can just work from wherever we are! Still not quite the same as a semester abroad, but would at least make up a bit for not doing it sooner!

I only did a few weeks study abroad during the summer.  I would have loved to do a whole semester but as an engineering major I didn't have very many electives to take nor did they offer engineering classes through study abroad.

I studied abroad in Prague for a semester during undergrad.  I was enrolled at the same school in Prague last year for 30 credit hours of law school classes, so I guess that is technically studying abroad as well.

I studied in Ghana in undergrad, which was the best decision I've ever made.

I wrote both (well, still finishing one) of my graduate theses on Tanzania and consequently spent a few months there doing my research and data collection. I wasn't enrolled in a Tanzanian university, though.

I switched majors a couple of times and since my parents were only going to fit the bill for 4 years, studying abroad didn't fit in. So, about 6 months after I graduated DH (then BF) and I took a 4 month trip to Fiji, NZ and OZ.

I wish I was here right now- Phi Phi Island, Thailand

I spent a summer studying abroad in Vienna and another summer on a research scholarship in Nepal.

I had always planned on studying abroad for a full year - but then I had to take a semester off.  I was a semester ahead so it didn't affect graduation but it did affect my ability to study abroad for a year or even a semester. So I had to settle with summers.

I'm hoping that once DH finishes his PhD program he will post doc abroad and we'll at least get to live for a year somewhere overseas.  His requirement is an english speaking country so I'm thinking - or hoping - Switzerland.

I studied abroad in my junior year of high school.  I spent 7 months in Bolivia.

I wanted to go again in college, but my school didn't offer any study abroad programs.
