New Thanksgiving recipes?

My mom and I decided this year to change up the menu a bit. We still want the traditional items, but with a twist. We already found a green bean recipe and a sweet potato recipe. Any other suggestions? We are open to trying things that are outside of the box especially when it comes to dessert. Thanks!

Bon Appetit just did an issue with multiple new suggestions for everything Thanksgiving.  They dishes range from traditional to completely new and fresh.  I believe it's still on the stands.

Check epicurious.com.  I bet they'll have exactly what you want.

Someone posted a quiz thing from there yesterday where you told it what kind of cook you are and how much you're willing to vary from traditional, and it suggested a bunch of recipes.  The ones it suggested for me sounded amazing.

I second the Bon Appetit menus.  I've marked a few that are updated versions of our traditional Thanksgiving menu to use this year, like their maple roasted sweet potatoes and some of the relishes.

My mother already requested this Cous Cous Salad with Butternut Squash and Cranberries.

It's VERY delicious, and perfect for a fresh new take on Thanksgiving!

That quiz is fun!  I keep changing my answers to see what all the possibilities are.

Maybe try a new stuffing?  My mom makes a traditional stuffing but I like to make cornbread ones with nuts and fruit.  I think I saw a recipe recently for a chestnut stuffing that sounded good

The 2008 November issue of Gourmet did a Latin-themed menu last year that was really good -- especially the Corn Bread & Chorizo Stuffing, and Adobo Turkey with Red Chile Gravy. You can find the rest of the menu from those links (poblano potato gratin, chocolate-cinnamon pie, etc.)

I took that quiz, but wasn't crazy about anything on the results. I guess I am more traditional than I thought!
