Getting spicy smell out of wood?

Bought a beautiful dining room suite of craigslist and we're very happy with it. A little elbow grease last night and it's looking like new, but the woman we bought it from was Indian, and the cabinet smells heavily of spices, especially when I open the doors. I love Indian food, but not exactly what I had in mind for the scent of my dining room, lol.

Aside from time, anything I can do to help get the smell out? I cleaned it with oil, but the lemon smell got overwhelmed by the spicy smell.

Put a bowl of vinegar inside the cabinet for a day or two to see if that will cut the odor.
