I'll admit, I'm kind of icked out when someone proudly states that they've been with their SO since middle school. There's something not quite normal about that. Especially when all the evidence points to the fact that he's a momma's boy and doesn't see a problem with that.

I think it's also interesting when she has been with her future ILs' son for so very many years, but is apparently not yet really accepted or respected in his family at all. She needs to get to the bottom of that issue pronto -- is it her? Is it him? Is it them?  My college roommate was with her BF since her sophomore year of high school, and even by then she was treated by all of her BF's relatives like one of the family. They've been happily married for many years now.

Stupid, you know exactly what you should do if you don't want to put up with this.  He doesn't see the problem, doesn't look like he ever will, so if you want to marry this guy, this is what you get.  If you don't want that lifestyle, find another guy whose cord has been cut.
