furniture stores recs

Hi,

I don't post much, we just bought our first home in Takoma Park and are looking for new living room furniture. We want to buy brown leather couches, maybe a sectional. Any furniture store recommendations in MoCo or surrounding areas would be appreciated.

We bought a few years ago from the Ashley Store in Frederick....we had a great experience with them...and we bought a leather living room set (couch, love seat chair all with recliners).
But what's next?

Congrats on the house!  There is an Ikea in Beltsville, MD which is very convenient.  We got a couch from their as-is section 2 years ago, and it's still great.  We got 2 couches from Value City in Woodbridge, VA, but they have locations in Baltimore and Frederick.

Congrats!

Unfortunately, Storehouse and Bombay, where we got a lot of things, are out of business.  We recently bought a sofa from Hamilton's Sofa Gallery (Rockville). We don't have it yet, but they have a good selection in a number of price ranges.  

We wound up buying quite a few antique pieces from Pritchard's in Kensington.  Kensington has an antique row (Howard Ave.) and if you are open to that, some of the stores have really nicely refinished pieces. We got our dining room set and two dressers there. 

We've also bought a few things from Crate & Barrell - our bed and a rug, specifically.

The Rockville Home Goods also has a lot of furniture. It is hit or miss, but every once in a while you luck out. We bought out TV console there, as well as a wine table and tons of accessories, including our LR rug, which we saw in a rug gallery for twice the price.

Also - FYI, there are a bunch of places on Rockville pike if you just want to spend an afternoon seeing a bunch of things close together, there is Hamilton's, Bloomingdales, Bassett, Thomasville, Ethan Allen, Sheffield, etc.

We recently bought furniture from Ashley in Frederick and unfortunately I cannot say great things about them. The store, which was independently owned, was taken over by Corporate in July, mainly because they weren't fulfilling orders or delaying shipments. We were supposed to receive in April (ordered in Feb) - and after numerous calls got a few answers.

Once Corporate took over we got the furniture in 2 weeks. However, since we did the interest free option, the store had the payoff in February versus July (when we got the furniture) so it took work with the CC company to change that.

We got a great price on a set for our den at Marlo a few years ago (I am lounging in it right now!) I know there are several stores in the area, so you should google to see which is closest to you.

I'm in the same situation as you - and have been looking around the area at furniture stores. I really like Bassett in Rockville, and Haverty's in Rockville was nice as well.

I havent bought living room furniture but we live in MoCo and have bought furniture from Havertys, Bassett, and Ethan Allen. Those three stores are all on Rockville Pike) THough I'd check out Lazy boy too for couches

I haven't been to the Ashley Furniture in MD, but the one in Woodbridge, VA is WONDERFUL.  We bought a brown leather reclining sofa and loveseat last year and recently bought dining room furniture from them.  I'm very happy with the furniture quality and service.

We got our leather couches from Macy's.  It sounds odd, but they were having a good sale so we checked them out.  The furniture is of good quality and the delivery service was awesome.  I was pleasently suprised by the whole process!  I would definately check out their home store (there is one in Ballston) for comparison.
