Does anyone remember the couple with the "wedding store"?

This is the couple I posted about several months ago who we know through another couple in CO (the groom is the brother of a good friend of ours).  If you recall, they have a "store" on their wedding website where you can buy stuff to help pay for their super expensive resort wedding and month-long honeymoon in Europe.

In the mail today, we received their 2nd Save-the-Date postcard.  On the back there is a stamp that reads, "RSVP online by [date] to receive an invitation."  So the website says if you don't get back to them by December 31st or if you RSVP that you can't make it to the wedding, they won't send you a formal invitation.

It's just so...odd.

Hey, as long as you're going to break the rules, might as well break ALL the rules, right?  I'm guessing they're trying to save invitation costs.  But why even bother sending them at all at that point?

But yeah, odd.

I do remember that, and am totally fascinated by this new development.  So they've spent the $ for two STD postcard mailings, but if you don't RSVP affirmatively in time, they won't spend the $ to send you a formal invite to the wedding?

Clearly, that bride has never visited the knot.  Smile

Wait!  Is one of the "store" options chipping in for the cost of formal invites??

I remember that too.  Strange and tacky.  Quote and ditto AustinBride and GuavaGal.  You've got to rsvp now, just to let us know what other craziness they come up with!

Hilarious. Tacky. Odd. I can't choose just one. You HAVE to rsvp & go to wedding just to see what else they pull! I can see them charging you if you want steak instead of chicken. Or they'll have a cash bar but charge more than drinks cost & pocket the rest. Or have a cover charge for the reception. :)

Oh, maybe they will charge for toilet paper in the bathroom at the reception!
