Are all MLS sites equal?

One of the realator's we ran into early in our hunting, signed us up for Listingbook so that we could see MLS listings.  I'm curious to know if all MLS sites have exactly the same thing?

We use listingbook and personally love it. We like that the info is so handy. We are only looking at FHA and that is listed. It is update quickly and sends a morning report that tells you of any price changes and new listings. I am not sure that the others so it, we tried realtors.com and didnt like it as much.

we found they do not all have the same info and they didn't all have the same homes it was strange.  I'm not sure why they didn't all list the same homes in an area it seemed some didn't list all the realitors stuff.

We've found that they aren't all the same.  It's frustrating.  I used to work as an admin asst for a realtor and they have a great website that allows you to input what your looking for in your price range and it gives you everything that is listed by every agent.  It's called MRIS.  I wish that this was made available to the public, but maybe on a different level.

No, most of them are terrible and I wonder how they even exist!

In my area, my local MLS owns a public access MLS site that is by far the best I've seen. Most sites are inaccurate, out of date and limited on the information they provide. The benefit of visiting a site that is owned & operated by the local association is that the information is the most accurate and comprehensive as well as the fact that it is the most current. Many sites pull information from other sources (such as mls's and Realtors websites) and much of the information gets lost or garbled in translation (for instance, I had a rental that repedatedly got listed as being for sale - at the monthly rental price. I never posted on that particular website, the pulled it from another site).

Hope that helps & good luck!
