Not taking placebo pills

I was wondering if anybody just started a new pack of pills after ending their old one. I do this pretty often...and just start a new pack. I haven't had a period in about 3-4 months...I was wondering if it was dangerous.

I was told by my nurse that it is fine. But to only do it one or two months in a row. Then get a period then you could got one or two months again. Its like taking that pill seasonal. But those hormones are alittle different which is why you can go 3 months on that.

Not dangerous, but you will get your period here soon (usually 3-4 months is the max). You still have that build-up going on, and your period will break through eventually. It's a natural process... we can try to hinder it (and can with those BCP that gives you "3 Periods a Year!") but eventually, Aunt Flow will still make a visit.

Not dangerous at all.  When I asked my doc a few years ago about switching to Seasonale (in order to just have 4 periods a year) she told me to stack my Yasmin packs (which I was already taking on a regular one month cycle) 3 packs in a row for basically the same effect.

Edit:  Also, if I try to go more than 3 packs at a time I get really heavy spotting, so I don't ever try to do more than 3 packs continuously.

I do it all the time.  Just make sure you're not late on any pills, since you might start spotting.

I am on Seasonique and haven't had a period in over 3 years.  When you are on the pill your uterine lining doesn't build up like without it, it is a "pill period".  My doctor said her friend, also a gyno, hasn't had a period in 11 years.  The only time I have spotting is when I am on antibiotics or more than half an hour late taking my pill.

I kind of like the reminder each month that I'm not pregnant.  Mine's usually really short and light anyways.

The whole dangerous thing probably something you should have looked into before you started doing it... but no, it's not dangerous. I wanted to do this and asked my gyno about it, and she said it's not bad but not to do it for any more than 3 months/cycles.

The difference between Seasonale/Seasonique and taking regular pills consecutively is that on Seasonale for two months, the last week of what would be placebo pills are blue... so in the entire 3 pack, you only have one row of placebos (12 weeks per cycle). If you take 3 packs of BC continuously, you ignore the last week that you would have had "period free" and begin a new pack (9 weeks per cycle). This means you get your period more times a year than you would if you were taking Seasonale. If your insurance covers it and if you really don't want to get your period as often, I would consider switching to Seasonale since that is what it's designed for and you will have less periods. Personally, I don't love having my period but I feel more at peace knowing I'm not pregnant every 9 weeks rather than every 12 weeks so I'm okay with taking 3 consecutive packs of regular bc. Plus, my periods have been lighter since I began taking my bc like this, so a few more periods a year are not a big deal at all. But I can easily see how it would vary from person to person!

HTH :)

I used to skip the placebo pills, but now I am on Lybrel which has no placebo pills.  I have no had a period in over 2 years.   Around 2 years ago I had one period, but it had been at least 2 years period free before.  So in a nutshell, I've had 1 period in 4 years.  Plus I have ZERO spotting.
