Feeling pressured.

We put an offer on a short sale 8 months ago.  For about the last 4 months the owner has been requesting that we move in now (rent free).  I have told her no on several occasions, my realtor thinks its a bad idea too.  She tells me she is tired of taking care of our house and we need to move in already.  She just recently shut off the power (it freezes out here) and now we are worried about the pipes.  She will not put antifreeze in them because it is bad for the environment.  Then she says "I don't understand why you don't just move in, you could be saving money all this time!".  Thoughts?

Don't move in - that is a disaster waiting to happen. It's still her house if you haven't closed on it.

Sorry your getting pressured by the seller.. I definitly wouldnt move in until after you close. Maybe she just doesnt want to have to deal with it anymore, or maybe she is trying to pull something on you.

Do NOT move in. What if the short sale falls thru and the house ends up at foreclosure auction? Just because you put in an offer does not give you rights to the property.

We have not moved in for two reasons.  1. Liability, if something were to happen to that house we are liable.  2. If it does fall through, we are screwed and would have to move again.

We have many other reasons tha that but those are the primary two.

Tired of taking care of "your" house?  That house is still hers, technically...even in the short sale process.  Stop taking any calls/whatever from her and deal only with your realtor and the bank.  Do not move into that house, under ANY circumstances.

I am assuming that you haven't even been thru the inspection process, so you don't know about any hidden problems that could be dangerous.
