Long vent re: friends and getting together

I know this might be considered silly, but I'm rather hurt. I posted Wed. about how this weekend has kinda gone a bit down the pooper due to cancellations on plans and such. Not a major deal, but now I'm really kind of hurt.

4 of us girls were going to GTG tomorrow for lunch. We're all school friends (since elementary) and all were BMs of mine.  We hadn't been out together since last March (minus the wedding).

One girl whom I love dearly backed out first and kind of blew a hole in the plans. We may still GTG (the other 3 of us) but not sure yet. But she totally flaked. I emailed her to find out if everything was okay (to be sure no emergencies caused the cancellation). She emails back that she ended up agreeing to take part in a weight lifting meet tomorrow last minute even though she doesn't really want to (she isn't a muscle head, but is an avid exerciser).  So she cancelled b/c of this.

Now I guess I'm so upset because she backed out of our rehearsal dinner so she could hurry back home from Worcester to Billerica to get to her weight-lifting class. She did come to the rehearsal, but was rushing and kept asking if she could leave so she could get home for her class.

So I was hurt about that. And now she's blowing us all of (on my bday) for another thing.

I don't know.  I know the argument is that when you're an avid exerciser and into health then that comes first, blah blah blah... but in my world, friends & family come first and exercise can come later in the afternoon.

Vent over.

PS. I do love her, I'm just hurt at the moment. I may DD b/c I never know who lurks on here (including one of my friends).

thanks ladies :) I'm not trying to be AW'ish on my bday or anything, I couldn't really care less at this point. It's more the point of it that really kinda hurts.  We spent WEEKS back and forth to get this date that everyone could do (we're all in different areas and one has a child and needs a sitter) so it's annoying and kinda hurtful to be put on the backburner 2x for similar reasons.

I would probably be hurt too.  I never thought it would be so difficult to get friends together as I got older.  It really is more stressful to GTG sometimes.  I wish I was 10 again and we had nothing better to do in life than play all weekend.  Happy Birthday BTW.

I have a friend like that and it does hurt. We've lost tough again because she can't leave any boyfriend for more than a minute to try and hook up. (I don't think we've seen each other since I got married!!!)

Anyway, I hate to say it, but your friend's excuse for your gtg and behaviour at your RD are LAME.

If I could, I'd go to your gtg. I hope you and your other friends have a great time.

ITA w/Mayedge.  I'd be hurt too.  As a former fitness buff, I still made sure to keep important friend and family things important....
