Such a sad atmosphere around our house today :( long

Yesterday our 7 year old lab wasent acting like himeself , ie when we filled his bowl for dinner he didnt run right over and scarf it down.  Instead he just wanted to go outside and lay on the back porch.  Once he was out there I couldnt get him to come in for probably a good hour.  There was no picking him up since hes huge about 120lb.  DH finally coaxed him into the house and onto his doggie bed.  I held his waterbowl up to him and he drank a little.  By 9:30, DH was off to the emergency clinc with him.  DH got home at about 1:30 in tears.  They were not yet sure what was wrong with Buddy but they had found a mass below his chest, tried a biopsy and came out with blood. The clinic calld us at 4:30am....they took him into surgey and it was worse than they could have expected.  Buddy has a tumor the size of a cantalope which had perferated his spleen and he was bleeding out. 

They did everything they could, but our precious big blonde dog was gone.  Our hearts are shattered and so raw with emotion.  I just can not believe hes gone.  I cant believe after all the time we spent with his vet, they  never found anything other than treating him for a thyroid issue Blood tests on a regular basis....I just dont get it.  

Buddy was our big loveable boy....and I know hes chasing butterflys and wont be scared of thunderstorms anymore.

Oh Randa, my heart goes out to you!  I'm working my hardest not to just weep for you.  I have been in the same position with a dog before (although it was liver cancer then).  No sign of anything wrong, then suddenly the worst and they're just gone.  My heart is breaking for you guys, missing your sweet Buddy!

Oh sweetie.  I'm so sorry.  We lost our chocolate lab in August, and it was (and still is) one of the most painful things we've gone through.  Just know that he is healthy and happy now and he will be waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge.

:( I'm sooo sorry for your loss! It's so hard when you loose a beloved pet...they really become part of the family (at least our 2 pups are and from the sound of it Buddy was too). My thoughts are with you and your family in this hard time(HUGS)

I'm so very sorry.  :(  Buddy was lucky to have been loved so much, and I'm sure he had a wonderful life.

I'm so sorry for your family's loss.  You are all in my thoughts and prayers.  I can't even imagine the void Buddy's loss has created.  Here's to Buddy and the wonderful life he had with you all.

I am sorry for your loss.  DH and I lost one of our pups to cancer a few years ago and it was such a difficult thing to deal with.
