Are you a job snob?

Meaning, do you look down on the career/jobs that other people do to make a living? I really dislike when people make comments along the lines of, "Well, you could be flipping burgers". What the heck is actually WRONG with flipping burgers?

Not at all.  Everyone needs to make money.  As long as it's not illegal and doesn't hurt me or my family, I really couldn't care less what anyone else does.  I do like to hear about interesting jobs though.  I suffer some times from job envy ;)

honest labor is honest labor in my mind. I basically advertise drugs to people who might not need them, not exactly something to aspire too. Rather see someone flipping burgers than running drugs.
But I do make fun of my brother for mowing lawns with a college degree because he is lazy and its such a crock.

Not in the least bit! I am the total opposite.

Sort of related: I do think that no matter what you do though, you should do it right :)

Nope, I come from a family with a wide variety of jobs. For instance, some people joke about truckers with disdain. My grandfather and uncle own a successful trucking company (as well as drive the trucks), so it pisses me off when people say things like that.

Funny timing of your post ... In the fact that last night as I was waiting in line at Walgreens - I was watching a 30-something year old man stock bags of cotton balls on the shelf.  And I did think - "Man, that job stinks.  How can he do that all day long?"  I didn't say it out loud, but  I guess I am a job snob.

No, although we've dealt with our share of that, since my hubby is a blue collar worker. But the truth of the matter is, he makes more than some of the white collar workers who turn up their nose, and in this economy, he has more job security than them as well. DH was a bit self-conscious about that when we first met, not realizing that I come from a whole family of blue collar workers. So really, he fits right in!

For someone else - as long as it is legal - and honest - I don't care. A job os a job and good for you for making a living.

As for me - I am a job snob when it comes to me. Meaning - I have a law degree so I, personally, would not get a job flipping burgers. If someone else had a law degree was was flipping burgers - I wouldn't care -- but FOR ME -- i wouldn't take a job like that.

I am not a job snob at all.... whatever pays the bills as long as it's not selling crack or whoring yourself out on the streets! ;)
