The dangers of beauty...

I don't know if any of you watch Dr. Oz, but I happened to catch a glimpse of the episode on Tuesday where they were talking about the "dangers" of beauty.  I was pretty surprised by some of the things they mentioned like loose powders and mineral makeup potentially being hazardous to one's health if inhaled (they also discussed anti-wrinkle creams and lipgloss).  Here's the synopsis if anyone want to read it:

Does information like this make you think twice about what products you use?  I can definitely see their point with the lipgloss and chapstick because recently I tried the plain chapstick brand with SPF 15 (I wanted something else cheap to throw in my purse), and it leaves a really disgusting taste in my mouth. I'm assuming it's because of the petroleum.  Most people buy flavored lip balms so they would probably never notice that.  I'm going to take their advice and switch to something that's made with beeswax instead.

This kind of information always makes me think twice about what I put on my body, at least for a couple of weeks!

Last year I tried mineral makeup and I had a horrible skin reaction to it. It took me weeks to realize it was actually the makeup and not something else because I believe so firmly that bare minerals was good for my skin. That experience, of seeing how negatively some prducts-even those thought to be good for you, can impact my body, has caused me to really reduce the number of products I use on a regular basis.

Thanks for the article, makes me glad I'm a wax based chapstick girl :)
