Is there any way to find out an "Unknown Number"?

Last night, my phone rang and it said "Unknown number."  I picked up, but it disconnected (they hung up I assume) after 2 or 3 seconds.  It sounds like it was windy on the other end or something.

Tonight, I pick up m phone and it shows a missed call from an unknown number.  About 5 minutes later, same thing...I get a call from an unknown number and it disconnects in a couple of seconds after I pick up.

I have had other missed calls in the last few weeks from unknown numbers, but didn't think much of it until now.  Is there anyway to figure out the number and tell them to stop calling?

If they're actually harassing you or something, there's *something you can push that will have the phone company record the number and the police look into it but otherwise I don't think there is.

With our home phone (not cell) we use a Sam's Club prepaid phone card for long distance.  It always shows up an unknown number for those receiving our calls.
