I'm working on the nightstand I posted about last week. It's not coming together like I wanted. It looks really little-girlish. I wanted some elegant-looking dogwoods, these just aren't working.
Do they need to be bigger, arranged differently, more of them, less of them, different flowers, leaves, some sort of painted texture underneath? Or is it just the table I'm trying to use? My other idea is to use a bunch of overlapping Atlanta postcards, since that's where we're from.
I think those flowers will look girlish no matter what. I would paint the top and do a stencil like this:

or scrapbook paper like this:

(I know those are cherry blossom and not dogwood, not sure if dogwood has special significance for you but it's harder to find).

Yeah, dogwoods say "home" to me. But I'm currently printing some extra large magnolias to give them a try. They say "home" also :)
