wood siding

my fiance and i have made an offer on a goreous Viceroy home that has wood siding.  the home inspector said it will need to be replaced at some point becuase it's warped and peeling in some areas.  residing the house would be pretty pricey, so we can't afford to do it right away...i wondered if anybody had any experience with a similar house and if just aplying a really good seal (marine grade used for boats) would work for a season.

we actually like the wood siding.  and letting it rot means that it could actually affect the integrity of the house...thus costing us a ton more money down the road.

does anybody else have a real suggestion?

My house is brick, so I don't know.  Everyone pretty much left the nest and are here now.  Come on over and ask your question and you will get real responses.

Is it painted and the paint peeling or is the actual wood coming apart?  We have wood siding on our house that is cedar.  It was painted (cedar should be stained!!!) and the paint is always peeling off.  We painted with Valspars Duramax paint and have had good luck with that so far.

I would call a few contractors out to get estimates on repairing vs replacing it and see what they say.

You can sand it and put a nice wood finish or wood stain on the surface. The good thing about wood stain colors now is that many are weather resistant and they come in a variety of colors to match your tastes. Good luck!
