Thanks for the tips! I just consigned for the first time last week and I was SO surprised at what items they would, or should I say wouldn't, keep. I knew that kids clothes needed to be in good condition in order for the store to actually want to pay me for them but I had no idea that the consignment store's version of 'good condition' would be so different than my version of 'good condition'! I only took in name brand clothing that was stain free, in style, free of any holes or tears and yet they only offered to purchase 18 of the 80+ pieces of clothing that I took in. I was honestly shocked. The stores 'purchaser' told me that they would only accept items that looked as though they had never been worn out washed. She said, 'Imagine you'd just left Carter's with a shirt, got in your car, taken the tag off and then driven straight here with the item. Thats what consignment items should look like.' I understand that no one wants to buy dingy, worn out clothing but it is a consignment store...the clothing is used. Thats why it's so cheap, right? Being someone that seems to consign a good bit, I was hoping that you could maybe she's some light on this for me. I decided to try to consign because I figured I would end up receiving more money for my children's clothes than if I continued to have yard sales. However, I'm not sure how it's possible! Any tips or advice you may have would be greatly appreciated!!
