Intro!

Hi, ladies! I recently migrated over from The Knot for curiosity's sake and have been lurking around for a few days. I like the general attitude of this board - seems like there are a lot of cool, sane people around here - so I decided to drop out of lurk mode and show myself.

The husband and I have been married since 10/6/12. He's 27, I'm 28, and our attitude toward having kids is a resounding "Meh". We both like kids and are leaning toward wanting one (probably just one), and he is a little more attached to the idea of having a biological child than I am to the idea of being pregnant. Right now our plan is to discontinue my BCP next year when my existing prescription runs out, but we don't want to actively TTC so much as just stop trying to avoid a pregnancy. I don't know, is it weird for me to not want to make a big deal out of TTC? All the charting and temping and whatnot seems like entirely too much work for me. As far as H and I are concerned, if it happens, great, and if it doesn't, we might look into adoption but would overall not be crushed if we end up not having kids at all.

So that's where we're at, taking a low-stress approach to starting our family. We fortunately haven't gotten a lot of pressure so far about having a baby, but I also feel like a lot of people our age just don't get it. I look forward to having some people to talk to who are on the same page!

This is pretty much my DH and myself.  In 4 or 5 years we'll just toss out the BCP and see what happens.

We're the same way.  Both of us are pretty indifferent to the idea and will be happy whether we have a baby or not.  We've talked about it a lot and have decided to wait a couple of years and then just forgo BC and let the pieces fall into place on their own.

Congratulations on your recent marriage, btw, and welcome!
