How much cat pee/barf is too much cat barf?

Gah! My cats are driving me nuts (disclaimer: I love them, I won't get rid of them, etc etc). Ok, so we had months and months of innapropriate peeing with both male cats after DD started walking. We got full work ups, switched to urinary tract food (which is hella expensive) and put them on anti-anxiety meds for maybe 5 months before weaning them off. Over the past few months I've noticed some innapropriate peeing happening again but mostly just in areas that we may not have fully de-peed the first time.

Then this week DD's changing pad was peed all over and our fat cat has been barfing copious amounts all over the house. He did it one day last week then got better for a few days, then had another day with lots of barf (I swear, it's more food than he eats in a day which seems impossible...) I called the vet, she said to give him some time and maybe some OTC anti-nausea meds which I didn't end up giving him since it stopped on Wednesday. Now today there are three new piles of barf in the house.

Of course, now going to the vet would mean emergency vet and tons of money and I'd rather not do that unless I think it's an emergency.

Any thoughts on what this sounds like?

PS- we're going to re-start the meds next week, but for now....

I would try changing their food.  It's possible that the barfing is the result of a food allergy.  I know some cats that can't stomach fish, and they will throw it up.  Put them on a high-quality food like Blue Buffalo or Orijin.  One that prevents hairballs wouldn't hurt to try either, in case he's bringing the food up with the hair.

If he is throwing up bile though, or you can see blood, take him to the vet right away, these are not good signs.

To help with the peeing you need to get rid of the urine scent everywhere they have previously peed.  I would buy a whole new change pad, or soak the one you have in Nature's Miracle.  If it has a cover on it, wash it with Nature's Miracle in the washer.

I have 4 cats, so I've been there, done that :P

How often and how much are your cats fed? Do they have access to food all day or do you feed them on a schedule?
