My cat is sick, advice needed :(

So for the past week or so I have noticed that my cat has not been acting right, he has been throwing up his cat food and acting depressed and distancing himself. He is normally very social so it is very out of the norm for him. I threw away his bin of cat food and replaced it with a new bag hoping it was a bad batch. Today I was finally able to pick him up and cuddle him a bit (since he has been avoiding contact) and I noticed a soft lump about the size of a cadbury egg on his inner thigh. From doing some online research, I think it is an absess. A little back story, we moved to a new house a few months ago and he got into a pretty bad cat fight with a cat in the neighborhood when he got out of the house. I took him to the vet to have it cleaned out and get an antibiotic but I read that absesses can happen relating to bites/fights. I called the vet this evening and the receptionist said the office is closed tomorrow because the vet will be out of town. IDK what to do or how serious these things generally are. Does anybody know if this is something that can wait until Monday or should I try to get him to a different vet tomorrow? I am really sad he is not feeling well. Thanks!

Since you've noticed this behavior for a while, I would personally take kitty in to see another vet.  I've never dealt with an abcess, but I would rather have things checked out sooner than later.  The behavior change is what concerns me the most.

Maybe your vet can refer you to another one?

A week is a long time and I am concerned that waiting until Monday is not going to be a benefit for your kitty.  Like PP I suggest finding a vet to take him to today.

How is kitty doing?  If this is an abscess it should have popped by now.  If it is it could also be why he is not feeling to well with all that infection being in there. Did the vet say what it was when they saw it?  THey should have been able to tell right away if it was an abscess or not, antibiotics should have taken care of it if an abscess too.  IS the lump still there any chance it could be a mass of some sort?  Let us know how kitty is doing since this was from a while ago.  Did the vet do any bloodwork or recommend any?
