for those who recently closed on a house....

Did you get your realtor a gift for closing? I was thinking we probably should since he dropped his commission so we would have the best offer in a bidding war. But of course I don't know what to get him. I was thinking of sending a bottle of wine to his office at work but how appropriate is that?  hmm...

I think a decent bottle of wine is a perfect gift.

The best gift you can give is a referral for future business.

We did not but ours made commission. If he dropped his, I think a small gift would be fine. I agree with a bottle of wine if he likes wine.

our agent was a family friend....so we felt even more inclined to give a 'thank you' gift.  we knew that they enjoy going out for hockey games and dinners and things.... so we gave a gift card to a local restaurant we knew they'd enjoy.

I think a bottle of wine is a fine gift. I'm sure they've seen all sorts of things get delivered to the office =)

We really liked our realtor; we gave her a gift card to a restaurant she really likes as well as a gift card to the liquor store.  But, like I said, we really liked her, and were really friendly by the end of our house hunting process.  And she made very little commission on our buy.

I think a bottle of wine sounds like a nice gesture.

I think wine is a fantastic gift :) It sounds like you had an excellent realtor; we are supposed to close on Thursday, but I'm not full convinced our realtor had our best interests in mind throughout the process. Also, this is Utah, if you give wine you're damned.
