FINALLY starting to exercise regularly! Tips?

Hi, ladies!  Sorry in advance for the semi-long post!

My husband and I are both very overweight, and both have goals of losing at least 50 pounds.  We bought an xbox (mainly because my husband is a gamer), and I ended up buying the YourShape Fitness Evolved game, which I LOVE.  In the past, we both will say that we want to start exercising, and talk about it, and plan it out, but then never actually start.  Well, we finally have started actually doing something a few days a week, and are trying to ease ourselves into it, instead of just diving in headfirst and getting burned out.  Right now, we're trying to get ourselves used to exercising for 30 minutes at a time, 3 times a week.

My question is, does anyone have any tips for rewards?  I've used a rewards system for myself in the past, and it does work for me.  I have my rewards chart all filled in (mostly new books and at-home spa nights, that'll get me off my bum), but DH is having some problems filling his in (and he wants to do a rewards system too).  His chart is mostly nights out to the bar and nights sitting around playing video games, but we're trying to NOT reward ourselves with food, for obvious reasons.  Anybody have a reward idea or two?  Or just some advice for sticking with it!  Thanks! :)

For your husband, maybe new games or gadgets for the xbox? I have also found new workout gear as being a great reward. For example, if I know my running shoes are getting near their end, I will work towards a new pair. Right now my rewards are actually using the gift cards I got over the holidays.

Ditto the video games.

As for sticking with it, I find it's easier stay on track when I exercise in the mornings before work. After a long day, I just want to have a glass of wine and relax. I also like to create a chart to visually see my progress. I did the 30 Day Shred (Jillian Michaels) and challenged myself to do it for 30 days straight. By the time I got to 10 days and I kept thinking "well, I've gotten this far, no point in giving up now." Also, don't stress the scale. It's normal to fluctuate and you might not see immediate results.

New workout clothes helped me re-motivate  myself. Old Navy has cute pieces at good prices. My favorite workout top was on sale for $5. Good luck!

New video games are a great "reward" if you think that will really help him.

You could also do things for each OTHER.

First one to __(5 work outs, 5 pounds lost, 5 days of logged food staying under in calories, etc)___ gets  a foot massage by the other.

He makes it to _______ and he gets you in lingerie.

Anything ME always motivates my H. :P

Yay for getting healthy!! I just wanted to post that my husband has struggled with his weight for most of his life. Even though he was biking miles and miles to work and eating right, he couldn't shed any pounds. He started taking a whole foods based weight loss supplement called Zeal for Life and lost 12 pounds in 14 days. I encourage you to IM me for details as it has been revolutionary for him!
