Has your car insurance gone up?

We just got our renewal policy from All State and they've gone up about $33/mo on us in the last year! I heard a radio commercial the other day that car insurance rates are going up in Tx, but that's about $400 extra for this year. So we decided to shop around, and we called a few companies; so far one nat'l company has offered a much lower rate. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this experience? Our newest car is an '06 Accord and we have no tickets, accidents, etc., so no other reasons for insurance to increase on us.

We used to have All State but they kept increasing their premiums so we switched to State Farm for both our home owners and our auto policies.  So far, we have not seen a rate increase this year.

My policy with Geico is almost up.  I got a quote from AIG and it was about $50 a month more, but DH had a major accident last year and totalled his truck.

I dread what it will be.

We've been with Geico for about three years and it just went up for the first time. When I called to ask, he did say something about the rates being raised for the state of Texas. He also gave me some pointers on things we can do to help save some money (defensive driving etc).

Oh, and ours only went up like 7 dollars a month, not 33, but it was enough that I noticed a difference.

I haven't gotten a recent bill (mine is up this month) but I got a notification of the new billed amount being LESS. Color me shocked. Only 3 bucks a month, but still.

No idea if it will stay that way though.

Thanks for the heads up. We're State Farm'ers and have not seen a rate increase yet this year but our policy is up next month. I think I'll shop around before then.

Yep, we were really surprised with this increase! Our last increase was $18/mo and this one is enough to make me switch.

Lynzee, our best quote was from Geico and we'll probably go with them. They quoted me about $45/mo less than what All State offered!

We'll probably switch home insurance too since it's through All State and Countrywide quoted me $215 less for the year.

We need to get our homeowners off of Allstate. I HATE them. So let me know what you end up with.

The last two years I've had to call and remind them to send me a bill for our windstorm insurance, which is seperate through the state. It wouldn't have got renewed either time if I hadn't called. Ridiculous.

if you or DH was ever in the Military, or your parents have ever had USAA you may qualify. They have super low rates and excellent coverage. We cut our bill by $115 a month with them.

We had our homeowner's policy also through All State and switched when State Farm quoted us a policy for about $700 less than All State - we switched that day!

Ours went up $10/month this last time.  I need to see if USAA can match or beat them because they screw up the policies EVERY time it is up for renewal.

We can't use USAA but I'm definitely going to switch, probably to Geico. So far they're the lowest offer I've found.

Countrywide offered a discount to do both car and homeowners through them but it'll be cheaper to use Geico for auto and Countrywide for homeowners unless I can find cheaper homeowners.

And we have flood insurance but that's a flat rate no matter who you use if I remember correctly... right?

Not a cent...we have all our insurance (home, flood, car, life, and ring) with State Farm so that may be why.

Yes, flood is the same as long as your are not a flood zone/area.
