When Anthea Paterniti arrived at a Brooklyn
coffee shop, she immediately spotted her blind date, Alex Kunhardt, who
was all bundled up and just getting over a cold. “I could tell he was
adorable right away,” Anthea says, “even through all those clothes.”
Once the formal introductions were out of the way, the pair headed
across the street for dinner at a sushi restaurant where they shared
great conversation and lots of laughs. “Alex was a little ungainly with
his chopsticks,” Anthea remembers. Not wanting the date to end, Anthea
and Alex went to a local bar for a few drinks where they later shared
their first kiss.

The Date April 15
Alex
proposed two and a half years later, enlisting the help of their cat,
Luscious. One lazy Sunday morning Alex called Luscious into the bed
where Anthea was lying, and hanging from his neck was a beautiful
diamond ring. “I started laughing and crying simultaneously,” Anthea
says. “I was a complete mess.” The couple exchanged vows one year later
in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park.
