Brit & Cecilia
Est. 10.11.03
Married: 10.13.07
My wife, Cecilia, and I met in Pittsburgh, where we both went to college.
We lived there together until the Summer of 2006, when we relocated to Boston (I'm originally from MA).
We love it here.
Cecilia is an accountant, and I'm an executive assistant at a non-profit,
but soon enough (hopefully!) I'll be a stay at home mom.
I write about life as a married lesbian homemaker wanna-be-mama in my blog, Feminist Housewife.
Our Nest
Homeownership is hopefully on the horizon for us,
but for now, we live in a lovely 2 bedroom apartment.
We did a lot of refurnishing/redecorating when we moved into this apartment in June '08,
which was a lot of fun, and we are so happy with how it all turned out.

Wedding
Cecilia and I were married on October 13, 2007, just a couple of days after our 4 year dating anniversary.
I had the misfortune of coming down with a "flu-like virus," a couple of days before the wedding,
leaving me feeling like absolute crap. They say you can't plan for everything, and that is very true!
Due to my illness, lots of little things were left undone and some plans got tossed aside
(like our rehearsal dinner). But the actual wedding was absolutely beautiful,
and after all the DIY, I couldn't believe how wonderfully everything came together.
It was everything we wanted our wedding to be, except I wasn't able to feel fully present or enjoy myself
since I was feeling so sick.
It was important for us to have a fairly traditional wedding, so that it would be something that our families
could recognize and relate to.
We are so happy that we had a big (well, 84 people - but big to us!) wedding that included our whole family.
I really think it helped many of our loved ones to understand our relationship, and it was an incredible thing
to celebrate with them all.

Re-Vowing
We exchanged vows for a second time in June '08 in Provincetown.
It was really important to me to be able to re-write my vows
(I had intended to revise them before the wedding, but being sick prevented me).
I wanted to be able to tell Cecilia all the things I had wanted to say on our wedding day,
and to be fully present in that special moment of exchanging our vows.
During our wedding ceremony, I had been so sick that I barely felt like it was even happening -
I really felt that I had lost out on the what was the most significant part of our wedding to me
(and the part I had most looked forward to!).
So we decided to do a little "re-vow" in PTown and have some pictures taken to commemorate the day.
I am so completely thrilled that we decided to do this.
We had a great wedding that showed our friends and family our love and commitment to one another,
but this exchanging of vows alone on the beach was just for us.
It was absolutely wonderful and is a memory that I will treasure just as much,
if not more than our actual wedding day.
