Una Vida de Alegria
Home is where the heart is <3

We are Leo & Vanessa, married March 14, 2009 on a gorgeous sunny day in Orlando, FL. Leo is a consultant and is from Albany, NY. Vanessa is a fashion designer and is from Orlando, FL. We currently reside in NYC. We live in Hell's kitchen, home to some really good restaurants! I love this photo that was taken in Costa Rica, because it shows how, even when we first started dating, we were always looking towards the future together.
Our wedding

Our wedding day was not perfect, by any definition of the word... but we had so many beautiful moments that made it funny, precious, and endearing. That day, as I started walking down the aisle with my dad, he turns to me and says "Vanessa, I will be strong for you, because I'm your dad." In a way it was like his final duty as my parent, and it really tugged on my heartstrings. That walk down the aisle- boy was it hard. But I put on a stoic, smiling face and overcompensated with some serious pageant waves and silent hellos to our guests. (It's pretty hilarious watching our wedding video with these antics.) Then *boom* we get to the end, to the altar, and I caught a glimpse of Leo's sweet face and it hit me like a ton of bricks. I had to lay my head on my dad's arm and ball my eyes out as the gorgeous organ music finished playing. THAT was the longest and hardest walk of my life. Once we got to the reception, as we completed our first dance and the DJ invited the guests to join us on the dance floor, there was no space around us to move, but in Leo's arms, it felt like we were the only two people in the room. It was an amazing feeling.
Our tiny NYC apartment

This is our tiny den the eve of our housewarming.

The family room with one of Leo's dad's paintings proudly displayed.

My sister is also an artist and architect and gave these to me as a Christmas gift one year. Oh yeah, all that alcohol was for our housewarming. We drink, but not THAT much!!

Here is our jam-packed bedroom with another Leo Loomie original hanging over the bed.

The view from our roof deck... The city's so pretty at night and from far away, isn't it? I will miss this when we move!

My furry friends

This is Leo's cat / my step-cat. One day Korky decided he would rest on the back of the computer chair... I'm still trying to figure out how his 20-lb body was agile enough to leap up there.

Korky's thumbs :-)

I'm actually a dog person at heart, so I get my fill when I go home to Orlando. In this photo are Spanky, Rocky, Vaughn, and Tinkerbell. This photo always makes me smile. LOVE THESE GUYS!

lovin life!

Our travels together

Something that has characterized our relationship from the very beginning has been our mutual love of travel. Our first trip was to St. John in the US Virgin Islands. On this trip we took a day-sail to see the caves at Virgin Gorda in the BVIs.

We went zip-lining in the Arenal area of Costa Rica; here we are in our zip-line gear, trying not to lose the breakfast we just ate.

I love this photo- this is my giant extended family of siblings and our significant others. Our mom and step-dad paid for us to experience a dolphin swim together at Atlantis in the Bahamas.

This is us on a sailboat waiting to cruise over to the Crater off the coast of Maui (I'm a little worried in this pic b/c I get sea-sick). On this trip we were able to visit the big island, Kuaui, and Maui! It was so awesome.

We managed to visit St. Maarten/St. Martin and Anguilla in the spring of 2008. Here we're on a local beach on the Dutch side.

For our honeymoon we went back to St. John for old time's sake and also because it's such a beautiful island. The last 3 days of our trip we were in Tortola at an amazing villa. Here we are in Jost Van Dyke. I make doggy friends everywhere I go :-)

What the future holds...

We're hoping to make it to Paris and Amsterdam someday soon before babies start popping out... these plans are put on hold until I get a job! (I was laid off in July.)

On the radar is a move back to Florida. The easiest transition for Leo would probably be Miami since it's the biggest metropolitan area in the state and has the most jobs.
