Ceremony Location -
Elms Mansion
The Elms Mansion was such a great and unique place for our wedding and reception. We got so many compliments on the food and location. Originally I was sort of concerned about it being too small for our guests (about 175) but it seemed to flow really well. I LOVED the gazebo for our ceremony. When I saw it all lit up, it literally took my breath away.
Officiant - John Zimmer
John or "Reverand JZ" as he likes to call himself was so much fun! He helped me in every step of the planning process. He met with me to help me plan my programs and his sense of humor is great! DH was a little nervous before the ceremony but John talked to him and joked around with him to help him relax. He made our ceremony so personable and fun. I HIGHLY recommend him!
Reception Location - Elms Mansion
The weather the night of our wedding was fantastic, so our guests were able to take advantage of the outside terrace. They had a bar set up inside and outside, so no one ever had to wait in line for a drink. Our wedding coordinator was a drill sargeant making sure we did everything on time. The night of it kind of irritated me, but looking back on it now, I realize she was just making sure we got everything done.
Cake Creator - Haydel's
I was SO pleased with our cakes, especially the groom's cake. The picture I gave them of the groom's cake was kinda blurry, but his drum cake turned out AWESOME!! everyone really liked my cake, and my co-workers finished it off a week after the wedding and everyone was still raving about how good it was.
Florist -
Fat Cat Flowers
What can I say, Diane is the greatest! When she arrived at the Elms to decorate the gazebo, no one was there to let her in. Instead of letting that discourage her, Diane simply hopped the fence!! LOL!! I loved my flowers, and the girls flowers looked great as well. She made a special trip to drop off the girls flowers at the hotel, then made another trip later in the evening to drop off the guy's flowers at the Elms. I truly believe that Diane got the look I was trying to create. I loved her and would recommend her to anyone!
Photographer -
Beebe Tran
Beebe's work speaks for itself. The thing that impressed me the most was how fast he got all the group pictures done after the ceremony. Members of our bridal party were amazed at how quickly we were done. Beebe and his wife, Corine, were everywhere that night. They captured so many moments that I would have missed otherwise.
Band- The Topcats
DH has known Rob, the singer, since high school. Rob and the guys had everyone dancing all night. One of my favorite parts of the reception was when he handed over the drumsticks to DH and let him play while his best man sang. Priceless!! The Topcats are great, but book up fast! If you are interested, call them NOW!
Ceremony Musicians -
White Oak Productions
Becky from White Oak is great and very easy to conact. However, Patrice Fisher, the harpist and lead musician was not. Patrice kept on referring me to her website to listen to the music, but the website crashed frequently saying I had exceeded her transfer bandwidth or something like that. She was my one stressor the week before the wedding b/c I was struggling to finalize my music, and she was not much assistance. However, the day of the wedding, everything came together and from what I could hear inside, it sounded great.
Transportation - American Luxury Limos
The cars were clean, the drivers were curteous and on time. The driver who picked up me and DH drove us around awhile before dropping us off so we could finish a glass of champagne and see the city a bit.
Invitations - Gem's
Very easy to work with. Great quality invites, and they even came in earlier than promised. A very easy vendor to use.
Veil-
www.honeymooneve.com
Very easy to work with, great quality and the price can't be beat! My veil arrived quickly, even in post-Katrina New Orleans.
Bridesmaids Jewelry - Dana Saylor- a fellow knottie
Dana and I communicated purely through e-mail. I sent her a few ideas of the look I was going for. She made one set of jewelry. She was receptive to the changes that I wanted to make. The girls looked great!
Tuxedos - John's Tuxedo
Not a single complaint here! DH has been using John's for YEARS and has never had a single problem. Even through we were dealing with a lot of out of town guys, not a single tux had a problem!
My Dress -
Matthew Christopher
, style Crystal Belle
I LOVED my dress! I know Pearl's Place has gotten a pretty bad rap, but my experience was fine. I bought my dress while Matthew was having his trunk show at PP. Because I bought my dress while he was there, he took all of my measurments. My dress didn't need a single alteration! The only thing my seamstress (one of my BM's moms) had to do was make my bustle. Lesson learned, if you can buy your dress during a designer's trunk show- DO IT!!
Bridesmaid Dresses -
Bill Levkoff
#308
The girls all looked fantastic! I think this dress was great on everyone b/c it is two pieces. The girls were able to get the dresses altered to fit their body styles.
Hair Stylist -
Jessica with Flawless Bride
She was wonderful, but they book up fast. if you are interested, you should book them early!
Makeup Artist - same
My makeup lasted all night. The airbrush makeup really does feel light and doesn't rub or sweat off.
Shoes-
Shoebuy
Good prices, and free shipping on purchases and returns. I ordered 2 pairs before I found a pair that fit and were comfortable. Great customer service. They get two thumbs up!
Honeymoon Destination -
Ti Kaye, St Lucia
As many girls have posted before, this place is paradise! The trip from the airport we flew into UVF was about an hour and a half from the resort. I was green by the time we got there and totally needed that welcome drink! I took dramanine for the way back and was fine. Our cottate was Chale which means hot and steamy. We also did the 7-night honeymoon package. The staff teased us all week about being in cottage "C". The oceanfront cottages are well worth the extra money. Our plunge pool was a little cold b/c it never got direct sunlight, but it was very refreshing after the long trek back up all the stairs! We did the Sunset Cruise which is very romantic. The rockign of the sailboat made me a little queasy afterwards, but the view is totally worth it! We did the snorkeling trip between the Pitons, and our guide was great. He would dive down and point out things or pick things up for us to touch and see. So much fun! We paid extra to do the deep sea fishing trip which was DH's favorite part. We caught lots of mahi mahi, and the skipper and captain were fun. We also did the Land and Sea Tour, but I could have done without that one. Seeing the Sulpher springs where the volcano has collapsed was interesting, but VERY stnky! We then went to the Diamond Botanical Gardens where we got to play in the waterfall from Superman II. THEN, they took us to another botanical garden. We saw pretty much the same plants all over again, plus had a two-hour hike. No one was really prepared, so we were all hiking in flip flops. I would recommend skipping this trip. We also had a wine and fruit basket at sunset. The star fruit and pineapple are SO yummy there!
Travel Agent - Joy with AAA
Joy got us a great rate and ultimately saved our honeymoon after a slight snafu with the booking agency.
