Serendipity

..when love feels like magic, it's called destiny. when destiny has a sense of humor, it's called serendipity..anam cara..

Our Story: Josh and I were meant to be together without a doubt. We lived in a small town in Connecticut when we were 5. We both frequently went to story time at the local library. At the same time both our families moved to a small town in Massachusetts. When I was 9, I went to a "flying up" ceremony where I went from being a brownie to a girlscout. Josh was there. We went to the same church and were in sunday school together. In middle school we both decided to take up the violin and had classes and performances together. I had a crush on his best friend. The funny thing is that we had never actually met until our senior year of highschool. So all those times where our lives were on the same path, we were taking that path together without realizing it. That's the funny side of destiny. We ended up meeting in highschool through mutual friends. I wasn't looking for a relationship, I was already in one (serendipity). We had an instant connection.

Our Engagement: We knew we were meant to be together so together we decided to get married. May 2003 he came home with the perfect ring, slipped it on my finger and that was that. We moved to Connecticut together in February 2004, then moved to Salem, MA in July 2007.

Our Wedding: We arranged a quick fall day wedding and were married November 4, 2007. The wedding was at Green Meadows Farm, an organic farm in Hamilton, MA. It was very intimate, with 25 people including ourselves, and very untraditional. Our theme was pumpkins.

It was the day after a very bad storm. We were very fortunate to have a gorgeous 65 degree sunny day with completely dry grass. The ceremony took place outside on the farm in an empty field under 1 lonely old tree. The lunch was in the greenhouse with food and drinks we prepared ourselves served on biodegradable dishes, which we threw in the farm's composte when done.

The Menu: Food - Salad, Pumpkin Soup, Vegetarian Chili, Sweet Potato Stuffed Pork, Green Beans, Mashed Potatoes. Drinks - Hot and Cold Apple Cider, Assorted Sodas, Champagne.

Our Honeymoon: We didn't go away on a honeymoon. In March we did take a trip to Maine and stayed in a cottage on the deserted icey Sebago Lake for a week. We plan to go away for the weekend in November to celebrate our 1st anniversary and will take a couple vacations throughout the year.

Our Pets: Ziggy was the first. He's a huge all black cat. I had him since I was 10. Then came Miss Piggy. She was a guinea pig we saw at the pet store one day. We normally don't buy from a pet store, but poor Miss Piggy was getting nipped and chased by all the other guinea pigs...so we "technically" saved her. Then came Brie, the sweetest pitbull you will ever meet. Her birthday is the day after Josh's. We rescued her when she was 3 months old from a shelter in Springfield, MA. Brie needed a friend, so we got Farmer, our retired racing greyhound. We adopted him from a couple who was moving and couldn't keep him. Poor Farmer didn't know how to be a dog. Brie taught him some tricks. Miss Piggy ended up passing away at the old age of 7.
